Cluster Headache Pain Relief

Phoenix Pain Treatment while being renowned for providing pain relief treatment to thousands of Phoenix and Scottsdale patients has protocols to help chronic pain from headaches. One type of headaches our medical and chiropractic specialists deal with is Cluster headaches. Cluster headaches are considered an uncommon neurological disorder, affecting approximately 0.1% of the US population.

Cluster headaches present with unbearably severe pain on one side of the head, usually centered around or behind the eye.  The pain is often described as dull, burning and/or stabbing and is often described as someone taking a red hot poker to the eye. The true Cluster Headache pain intensifies very rapidly going from zero to devastating in less than 15 minutes and stops as quickly as it starts.

Bouts last between 15 minutes and 3 hours and can occur from once every other day to eight times per day. Peculiar to Cluster headaches is that they usually appear at the same time each day. One or more of several physical reactions go together with the pain, and always on the same side as the pain.  These consist of watery eye, runny and/or stopped up nose, red/bloodshot eye, a drooping eyelid, forehead and facial sweating and irritability.  Dissimilar with a migraine, a Cluster headache subject typically cannot lay down during an onslaught.  Instead Cluster Headache sufferers will habitually pace the floor, sit rocking back and forth, some victims have such excruciating pain have actually tried to bang their head on the floor or wall or hit their forehead with their fists to alleviate their pain. So please don’t take a poker in the eye or bang your head against the wall…be free of the pain and call 602-449-9430 and we will see you today
